Delete your account and data

Last updated: October 13, 2026 · Why Not Run LLC · Massachusetts, USA

The short version: in the app, open Profile, tap the gear, then Delete account at the bottom of Settings. That deletes your account and everything it holds on our servers, revokes Why Not's access at Apple and at WHOOP, and clears your plan, settings and stats from your phone. No app at hand? Email support@whynot.run and we will do it for you.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open Why Not and tap the Profile tab.
  2. Tap the gear to open Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account, under Danger zone.
  4. Tap Delete, then Delete everything to confirm. This cannot be undone.

Your account is deleted on our servers first. If that does not go through, nothing is deleted, the app tells you so, and you can try again in a moment.

What it deletes

On our servers

  • Your account, with your Apple account ID and email address.
  • Your profile: your first name, age and gender.
  • The copy of your plan and the copy of your running stats.
  • Your Apple sign-in token, after Why Not's access is revoked at Apple.

On your phone

  • Your plan, your settings and your stats.
  • Everything from WHOOP, after Why Not's access is revoked at WHOOP.
  • Your WHOOP and Strava tokens and your sign-in session, from the iPhone Keychain.

What it does not delete, and how to remove it

  • Your subscription. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Why Not.
  • Your past runs on that phone. Your past runs' cards, route maps and metrics stay on that phone until you delete the app.
  • Apple Health. Runs Why Not saved to Apple Health stay there, as your own records. Delete them in the Health app if you want them gone.
  • Strava. Deleting your account removes your Strava tokens from your phone but does not tell Strava. Disconnect Strava in the app first (below), or remove Why Not at strava.com/settings/apps. Runs you sent to Strava are in your Strava account; delete them there.
  • WHOOP's own data. Your WHOOP history stays in your WHOOP account. Why Not's access to it is revoked.
  • Your purchase history. Apple and RevenueCat, our subscription service, keep the record of your purchases to manage the subscription. Email us and we will ask RevenueCat to delete yours.
  • Emails you sent us, and an email you left on this site's launch list: email us and we will delete them.

Delete only part of your data

  • WHOOP: Profile → Settings → Connected Apps → WHOOP, then Disconnect WHOOP. That revokes Why Not's access at WHOOP and deletes every WHOOP record from your phone, including the WHOOP line in any post-run read.
  • Runs from WHOOP: turn off Runs from WHOOP in the same place. The runs that came from the WHOOP app leave your Activities, your plan and your totals.
  • Strava: Profile → Settings → Connected Apps → Strava, then Disconnect Strava. That revokes the tokens and deletes the runs that came only from Strava, and leaves your own recordings in place.
  • Apple Health: in Connected Apps, tap Apple Health to stop new runs coming in. To revoke Why Not's access fully, use iPhone Settings, Privacy & Security, Health, Why Not. Stop reading, in Connected Apps, removes your morning readiness readings.

Without the app

Email support@whynot.run and ask us to delete your account. To be sure the account is yours, we may ask you to write from the email address your account uses, or to include the support ID the app adds to its support email. We answer within one month and tell you when it is done.
